Keeping it fresh

The April issue of Runner's World has an article on how to stay motivated and keep your training fun. One of the things they recommend is changing things up a bit and choosing a different sport to do, once a week.

As a triathlete, this isn't too hard to do... heck, we have three to choose from; four if you count weight training.

Just recently, my friends and I purchased 'hogs'. Well, that is what we call them... They are better known as Razor A Folding Kick Scooters. We have a fleet of four green scooters... this is not only great exercise but how we prefer to roll.

So far we have slolamed our way down Moody Street in Waltham, dodged gawking pedestrians and cars, and visited fine establishments along the way. I am especially excited for the warmer temps, as hoggin' up will become more frequent.

I figure there are many benefits to hoggin' up - it's a low impact workout, get's the blood flowing, strengthens core muscles and hip flexors, and encourages follow through of your running stride.

But most importantly, it lifts your spirits - have you ever seen a gang of hogs rolling down your street?
